Actual Life 1 (April 14 – December 17, 2020)

While we are all baking bread and scrolling through endless TikToks, Fred Again was busy putting together this album during the height of the pandemic and quarantine. This first album is an excellent place to start with Fred Again.

In “Actual Life 1,” Fred Again makes use of household items to produce eclectic sounds.

The album is heavy on the bass, as well as spoken word, as the song “Steal My Joy” attests.

Fred Again also relies on the keyboard to produce many of the instrumentals. The overall vibe of Actual Life is quite techno.

“Actual Life 1” is somber, lyrical. Themes on this album include love and loss and Fred’s personal journey.

Breaking conventional rules, the album also includes as well as snippets of…well… actual life as captured through voice notes and samples from his daily life.

The most popular track from “Actual Life 1” is: “Marea”

Actual Life 2 (February 2 – October 15, 2021)

In his second installment of the Actual Life series, Fred Again re-ups the techno style.

Several of the songs are slower-paced, including “Catrin” and “Roze ” which feature auto-tuned vocals that add to the electronic feel of the album.

But don’t think low-speed is all Actual Life 2 has to offer. It’s really a veritable club album with plenty of upbeat tracks such as “Billie”

Some of these songs are reminiscent of the 90s jams that some listeners may remember dancing the night away to.

Lyrically, “Actual Life 2” continues to explore introspective themes against the backdrop of a world that was then still far from normal.

The most popular track from “Actual Life 2” is: “Billie”

Actual Life 3 (January 1 – September 9, 2022)

This album is the third installment of the Actual Life series.

Fred Again says he feels as though this will be the final segment of this project, but he can’t say for sure that we won’t one day return to his Actual Life roots.

Once again, Fred Again builds upon the dance vibes to put together an album that almost feels like it could have come out in the early 2000s. For example, “Bleu” could nearly be an early Chris Brown track.

The album features a range of vocals that lay perfectly on top of the electronic beats.

Overall, “Actual Life 3” caps off Fred Again’s discography in a really clean, polished way.

The most popular track from “Actual Life 3” is: “Delilah”
